-6th Sunday after Pentecost-

After living so long away from home country, when we suddenly catch the familiar scent of our hometown, we realize, ‘I have been living with longing all this time.’ There are scents we remember, tastes we remember, and people we remember. The warm welcome of relatives and friends back home stirs our hearts. Even when we have forgotten so much, returning home brings back a warmth and sense of security that restores us.

Won’t it be like that when we one day return to our God? The place where we will know true peace and joy, where we will meet the very source of true love, our God, and come to know the reason and worth of our existence. Even if the life we have today feels heavy and burdensome, a bit lonely or frightening, I believe that as we walk this path with longing in our hearts, we are walking toward our true home where we belong.

I pray that we will treasure the people and relationships given to us, and together become a precious community of our God, creating a home for one another.

-성령강림후 여섯째 주일-

오랫동안 고향냄새를 잊어버리고 살고 있다가 고향 냄새를 맡으면 이런 생각이 듭니다. ‘그리움으로 살고 있었구나’ 라고 말입니다. 기억하는 냄새가 있고 맛이 있고 사람들이 있습니다. 고향 친척 친구들의 환대는 마음을 뜨겁게 합니다. 많은 걸 잊고 살다가 고향으로 돌아오면 회복되는 따스함과 안정감이 있습니다.

우리가 그날에 주님께 돌아가면 그러지 않을까요? 진정한 평화와 기쁨을 알게 되는 곳, 진정한 사랑의 근원이 되시는 나의 하나님을 만날때 알게되는 존재의 이유와 가치. 오늘 우리에게 주어진 삶이 조금 힘겹고 버겁더라도, 조금 외롭고 두렵더라도 ‘그리움’으로 길을 걷다보면 내가 돌아가야 할 진정한 고향으로 가게 되지 않을까 생각합니다.

우리에게 허락된 사람들과 관계들 소중히 생각하며 함께 고향을 만들어가는 귀한 주님의 공동체가 되기를 기도합니다.
