Weekly Newsletter - June 22, 2025

-Second Sunday after Pentecost-

From Sunday to Wednesday last week, we held the Unity Retreat. Our church, Berkeley Korean, and three nearby churches, Bethel, Berkeley New, and First San Leadro, came together, about 60 people in total. It was a time filled with grace and joy. I was especially thankful for the “friends” who can walk together in faith, and for the church leaders and teachers who are committed to the next generation. 

This year, I felt that the youth opened their hearts from the very first evening worship. On the final night, I sensed that heaven’s joy was being poured out upon them. I saw a great change in them as they sang and danced, God’s love being poured in, and seeds of faith being planted. I prayed that they would become God’s leaders for the next generation: pure, humble, and with the heart of a shepherd like David. 

This retreat has only deepened my conviction that we must keep reminding them of God’s name and what God has done, and that they must embody this calling of remembering God’s name in their lives. So I earnestly pray that our church may become a beautiful and faithful community that dedicates itself to the next generation and helps them remember the name of our Lord.

6월 22일 안내문

-성령강림후 둘째 주일-

지난 주일부터 수요일까지 유스부 연합수련회가 있었습니다. 저희 교회와 열린교회 그리고 주변에 작은 교회 3교회가 모여 함께 수련회를 가졌습니다. 총 60명의 인원이었는데요, 은혜롭고 기쁨이 넘치는 시간이었습니다. 믿음으로 동행할수 있는 “친구”들이 있다는 것, 그리고 다음세대를 위해 헌신하는 믿음의 선배들과 교회가 있다는 것에 얼마나 감사한지 모르겠습니다. 

올해는 유스들이 첫날 예배때부터 마음이 활짝 열리고 있다는 것을 느끼게 되었습니다. 마지막 날 저녁에 예배할 때는 하늘의 기쁨이 그들에게 부어지는 것을 보았습니다. 작은 변화가 일어난것 같고, 하나님의 사랑이 부어진것 같았고, 믿음의 씨앗이 심겨지는 것을 보았습니다. 그들이 다음 세대를 이어갈 하나님의 리더들이 될수 있도록, 다윗과 같이 순전하고 겸손하고 목자의 마음을 닮은 세대가 될수 있기를 위해 기도하였습니다. 

그들에게 하나님의 이름을, 하나님께서 하신일을 상기시키고 삶으로 살아야한다는 마음도 더 굳게 다지게 되었습니다. 그렇게 우리 교회가 다음세대를 위해 헌신하고 하나님을 기억하게 하는 아름답고 선한 교회가 될수 있기를 간절히 기도합니다.
