-Ascension Sunday-

Life has a way of breaking us. There are moments that shake us to the core. We are misunderstood, rejected, and overlooked. We are told we’re not good enough, not smart enough, not beautiful or successful enough. And those voices leave scars…

When Jesus stood before the soldiers, He showed us how to stand in the face of betrayal and violence with love, not hate; with peace, not fear. And when He died on the cross, the world shook. Heaven mourned. The temple curtain was torn in two. And when He rose again, He broke the power of shame, sin, and death forever.

As we celebrate the Year of Jubilee, I hope that our community of faith will stand before the world with the dignity of Jesus. Even in moments of danger, failure, or crisis, may we stand boldly in the image of God and become the Church of the Lord that overcomes the world.

-승천 주일-

삶은 때때로 우리를 부서뜨릴때가 있습니다. 우리를 깊이 흔들어 놓는 순간들이 있습니다. 때때로 오해받고, 거절당하고, 외면당합니다. 충분히 잘나지 못했다고, 똑똑하지 못했다고, 아름답지도 성공하지도 못했다고 말하는 목소리들이 우리를 향할 때가 있습니다. 그리고 그 목소리들은 우리 마음에 상처를 남깁니다…

예수님께서 겟세마네 동산에서 잡히신던 밤, 주님은 배신과 폭력 앞에서도 증오가 아닌 사랑으로, 두려움이 아닌 평안으로 서는 길을 보여주셨습니다. 그리고 십자가에서 죽으셨을 때, 세상이 흔들렸습니다. 하늘이 애통했고, 성전의 휘장이 둘로 찢어졌습니다. 그리고 예수님께서 다시 살아나셨을 때, 그분은 수치와 죄, 죽음의 권세를 영원히 깨뜨리셨습니다.

희년의 해를 맞이한 우리 믿음의 공동체가 예수님의 존엄으로 세상앞에 섰으면 좋겠습니다. 어떤 위험의 순간에도, 실패나 위기가 있을때라도 하나님의 모습으로 당당하게 서서 세상을 이기는 주님의 교회가 되기를 기도합니다.
