-14th Sunday after Pentecost-

“Leaving” - Hebrews 11:1, 8-16

All of us experience leaving. We leave places, people, relationships, seasons of life, and things that once felt comfortable and secure. Some departures are chosen with hope. Some are forced upon us by circumstances we cannot control. Every leaving places us somewhere between what we have left and what we have not yet arrived. 

This Sunday, we will reflect on the stories of Adam and Eve, Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph. Their reasons for leaving were different, but God met each of them along the way.

Hebrews tells us that faith is not knowing exactly where the road will lead, but faith is trusting that God is with us between places we have left and the promise ahead.

And through those Bible stories, we come to know that those who know the pain of leaving are being called to become a place of hospitality. 

So, wherever you are on your journey, please join us to worship and fellowship as we make bridges of hope from where we have left to the place we are called to be.

-성령강림후 열넷째 주일-

“떠남” - 히브리서 11:1, 8-16

우리 모두는 살아가면서 수많은 ‘떠남’을 경험합니다.
우리는 장소를 떠나고, 사람을 떠나고, 관계를 떠나며, 한때 익숙하고 편안했던 삶의 계절을 떠나기도 합니다. 어떤 떠남은 희망을 품고 스스로 선택한 것이지만, 어떤 떠남은 우리가 통제할 수 없는 상황에 의해 어쩔 수 없이 주어지기도 합니다. 모든 떠남은 우리를 이미 떠나온 곳과 아직 도착하지 않은 곳 사이에 서 있게 합니다.

이번 주일에는 아담과 하와, 아브라함, 야곱, 그리고 요셉의 “떠남” 이야기를 함께 묵상하려 합니다. 그들이 떠나야 했던 이유는 모두 달랐지만, 하나님께서는 그들의 여정 가운데 한 사람 한 사람을 만나 주셨습니다.

히브리서는 믿음이란 우리가 가는 길의 끝을 정확히 아는 것이 아니라, 떠나온 자리와 앞으로 이루어질 약속 사이에서도 하나님께서 우리와 함께하심을 신뢰하는 것이라고 말씀합니다.

그리고 이 성경의 이야기들을 통해 우리는 한 가지를 더 깨닫게 됩니다. 떠남의 아픔을 아는 사람들은 이제 다른 이들을 품고 맞아들이는 환대의 자리가 되도록 부름받았다는 것입니다.

그렇습니다. 우리 유스들이 떠남에 대해 배움으로 인생의 참된 가치, 신앙의 가치를 배울수 있기를 기도합니다.
