-12th Sunday after Pentecost-

“Canaan: The Low Place God Blesses II” - Genesis 9:18-27-10:32, 12:1-7

This Sunday, we will continue looking at the story of Noah and Canaan and reflect on how God does not leave even the places of shame, failure, and curse without hope. 

In Genesis 12, God calls Abram and sends him to the land of Canaan. The land that had been associated with curse now becomes the place where God speaks words of promise and blessing. Through this story, we are reminded that God comes into the low and dark places of our lives, restores what has been broken, and begins His work of salvation.

Sometimes we turn our shame into a kind of curse. This can be especially true for us. The feelings of inferiority and low self-esteem we experience during adolescence can sometimes become like a curse that shapes the direction of our lives. But God comes into those very places of insecurity and low self-worth. He speaks words of affirmation, raises us up, and brings healing and restoration. God can turn the places we think are cursed into places of blessing.

As we worship together this Sunday, I pray that healing will begin in the places where we struggle with low self-esteem and feelings of inferiority. I pray that even a small seed of God’s Word will be planted in our hearts and begin to grow.

May our youth ministry become a community that experiences the restoring grace and hope of God, the God who lifts us up again.

1. Thank you PTA parents for organizing Promotion Party.

2. Teacher Michel is starting Internship at our church. His installation service will be tomorrow during the KM service - Youth will be there to support him.

3. Youth are invited to the Church Town Hall meeting tomorrow at 1:30 PM everyone is encouraged to attend.

4. Fall Kick-off Outing to Great America, 8/29, Saturday at 10 AM. More details follow soon. 

 

-성령강림후 열둘째 주일-

“가나안, 하나님께서 축복하는 낮은 자리 2부” - 창세기 9:18-27, 10:32, 12:1-7

이번주일에도 노아와 가나안의 이야기를 살펴보며 하나님께서 수치와 실패, 저주의 자리도 소망없이 버려두지 않으신다는 것을 함께 묵상해보려고 합니다.

창세기 12장에서 하나님은 아브람을 부르시고 가나안 땅으로 보내십니다. 저주와 연결되었던 그 땅이 이제 하나님의 약속과 복이 선포되는 자리가 됩니다. 이 이야기를 통해 하나님께서 우리의 낮고 어두운 자리로 찾아오셔서, 깨어진 것을 회복하시고 구원의 일을 시작하시는 분임을 깨닫게 됩니다.

때로 우리는 수치를 저주로 바꾸어 버릴때가 있습니다. 특히 청소년들이 사춘기 동안 겪는 열등감과 낮은 자존감은 인생의 방향을 정해버리게 되는 마치 저주같은 것이 되어 버릴때가 있습니다. 하지만 하나님은 우리의 열등감과 낮은 자존감의 자리에 찾아오셔서 칭찬하시고 세워주시며 회복하십니다. 우리가 생각하는 저주의 자리를 축복의 자리로 바꾸십니다. 

이번주일 예배 드릴 때 우리 유스들의 낮은 자존감과 열등감이 치유하는 일이 일어나기를 기도합니다. 말씀의 작은 씨앗이 뿌려져 싹이 솟아나기를 기도합니다. 그렇게 우리를 다시 일으키시는 하나님의 회복의 은혜와 소망을 누리는 우리 유스부 되기를 기도합니다.
