-18th Sunday after Pentecost-

Beneath all of these answers about relationships is a fundamental idea that human beings long for connection and belonging. We are created in the image of a relational God, and so our deepest joys and our greatest wounds both flow out of our relationships. Human relationships, including friendship, dating, marriage, family, they are not just human inventions for survival or social convenience. They are laboratories for learning God’s love.

Then the real question is not why do you have these relationships? But what is the true purpose of these relationships in God’s eyes?

Throughout Scripture, we see that loyal friendship, romantic love, and familial bonds, when lived in God’s design, become a window into His covenantal love. Even though the Bible has many stories of brokenness of love and trust, we will explore four stories of enduring, faithful love that show what healthy, God-honoring relationships look like. The stories of Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Rachel, Ruth and Boaz, and Mary and Joseph remind us that every relationship is meant to draw us closer to God and to reflect His steadfast love toward us.

I pray that our youth, full of curiosity and questions, will take this time to reflect on God’s purpose for relationships, and keep it in their hearts as they think about their friendships, future spouses, and families.

1. Friday Gathering continues this Friday. This week - Sports Day at San Jose High. We’ll gather at church by 7 PM and will return to church by 9:30PM

2. CM’s Fall Festival - Oct. 31, 6 PM. Our youth will volunteer for help around the festival.

3. Gratitude Challenge - from Oct. 20-Nov. 19. Please help youth participate in this month for expressing their gratitude to form a spiritual habit. A guide booklet will be distributed next Sunday.

-성령강림후 열여덜째 주일-

인간 관계에 관한 모든 대답들 밑에는 한 가지 근본적인 진리가 있습니다. 인간은 연결되고 소속되기를 갈망하는 존재라는 것입니다. 우리는 관계적이신 하나님을 닮은, 하나님의 형상대로 지음 받았기에, 우리의 가장 큰 기쁨도, 가장 깊은 상처도 모두 관계에서 흘러나옵니다. 인간 관계, 우정, 결혼, 가정은 단순히 생존이나 사회적 편의를 위한 인간의 발명품이 아닙니다. 그것들은 하나님의 사랑을 배우는 보육기입니다.

그렇다면 진짜 질문은 “왜 인간 관계를 맺느냐”가 아니라, “하나님의 눈에서 볼 때 이러한 관계의 참된 목적은 무엇인가?” 입니다.

성경 전체를 보면, 하나님께서 의도하신 방식으로 살아가는 인간 관계는 하나님의 언약적 사랑을 비추는 창이 됩니다. 비록 성경에는 사랑과 신뢰의 깨어짐에 대한 많은 이야기들이 있지만, 우리는 그 속에서도 하나님께서 보여주신 건강하고 거룩한 관계를 드러내는 네 가지 이야기를 살펴보려 합니다. 이삭과 리브가, 야곱과 라헬, 룻과 보아스, 그리고 마리아와 요셉의 이야기는 모든 관계가 결국 하나님께 더 가까이 나아가고, 그분의 변함없는 사랑을 세상에 비추도록 부름받았음을 우리에게 말 해 줍니다.

궁금한것도 많고 고민도 많은 우리 유스들이 하나님께서 디자인 하신 관계의 목적을 마음에 새기고 친구와의 사귐, 미래의 배우자, 가정까지 생각해 볼수 있는 시간이 되길 기도합니다.

1. 유스부 금요모임이 매주 금요일 오후 7시에 있습니다. 이번주도 스포츠데이로 모입니다. 교회에서 저녁먹고 산호제 고등학교 체육관으로 갔다가 9:30분에 돌아옵니다.
